Novice Teams Report

Our Club Championship for Novice Teams was held over two Wednesdays. Team Aldersley (John Aldersley, Beryl Lowry, Marcelle Goslin, Meryl Duke) prevailed scoring 4 wins and a loss giving them an impressive final total of 86 imps.  Well done players.
A tense final match was ensured when after four matches the top teams were separated by the tiny margin of 0.03 VPs.

Novice Teams

Team Serra filled the 2nd spot with a 3-0-2 record. Team Nicol won the final podium spot also with a 3-0-2.

Thanks to Director Peter Hume for officiating over the two weeks. It’s interesting to note that, as a player, Peter has won this event more than once over the years.

Autumn Pairs

Twelve pairs signed up for our Autumn Red Point event.  Sadly, six tables less than pre-covid times. Nevertheless Director, Chris Hannan, set a movement for NS & EW winners.  Sylvia Foster & Jaan Oitmaa won the honours EW with a comfortable 2% margin.  NS, however, was a different story. Elaine & Peter led at times and Barry & Hope at other stages.

In the final moments the computer scores flicked our combatants back and forth from first to second. In the final analysis the computer handed out a tie. A little suspense in the closing moments made a wet, miserable day just right.
Thanks all for your attendance during this wretched weather.

Valentines Day Pairs - Report

Seventeen pairs entered our Valentine’s Day competition.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t divide the field into ‘Open’ and ‘Super Novice’ divisions which were so successful in the pre-covid days. Nevertheless there were plenty of ‘bridge lovers’ about.

NS winnersEW winners

David Bowerman and Dasha Brandt owned NS with a stunning 70% score card. With 6 x 100% boards it was hard for the others to get in the game. East West was more competitive with the Vaughan’s topping the podium with a more conservative 56%.

A lovely day of bridge thanks all.

BWBC Score Top Spot on the Podium in ‘Coast Event’

Twelve teams representing Gosford - CCLCBC, Bateau Bay - Community Bridge Club) and Brisbane Water entered the Interclub Teams event held at the Gosford Leagues Club. The event went right down to the wire with BWBC Team Tomlinson hoping to overtake round 5 leaders Gosford Team Clarke. At the same time Gosford Team Mills were also in a winning position but would have to score a BIG final round. Our congratulations go to BWBC Team Tomlinson taking 1st spot with a 5-0-1 score card. The winning margin was a slender one point buffer over their nearest rivals (Gosford Team Mills).

IC Teams winners

BWBC fielded 4 teams all keen to improve on their last Gosford outing. Team Foster finished 4th disappointed not to repeat their winning ways from previous years.  Team Hume slipped to 8th after holding 2nd place at the end of round 4.

The event was directed by Ronnie Ng who kept a firm eye on proceedings.
Gosford supplied drinks and nibbles at the close of play which was greatly appreciated by a hungry mob errr… group of players.
