AGM Pairs

Twenty two duos contested the AGM Pairs in two sections (13 in Open & 9 in under-50 MPts).  Director Chris ran the day to produce a single pair-winner in each section.

In the Open field it turned out to be a day for the Restricted/Novice players who were handing out the bridge lessons to their much higher ranked opponents. Peter & Elaine Hume had a narrow victory by 0.9 matchpoints over Beryl Lowry & John Aldersley. Ron Meaney & Cathy Russell filled the 3rd spot on the podium.

AGM open

AGM under 50

The under-50 MPts field saw Bob Lowry & Dieter Mucharsky win with a huge score of 79%.  Wow, that’s some win. WD guys. Podium spots 2 and 3 went to Annette Clarke & Larry Amos and Merilyn Reid & Caroline Nichols respectively.

There were some challenging boards with the odd slam available to those who dare.  Well done all.... it proved to be a lovely day.

Rookie Spring Pairs

20 rookies in the the 2nd September Friday morning supervised session celebrated the beginning of Spring with a spirited session followed by lunch at Margarita Daze.

Rookie spring

Well done session winners Rohan Creasey & Jennifer Tebb (N/S) and Larry Amos & Annette Clark (E/W).

Novice Pairs Club Championship

Novice champs

The Championship was fought out over 2 sessions. Seasoned novices, Carolynne Mucharsky & Graham Woof had a narrow win with a 1.5% buffer at the close of play.  Their results were very consistent with a 2nd in session 1 and a 1st in session 2.

The second podium spot was filled by improving duo John Aldersley & Beryl Lowry.  Blair Glass & Ian Newton with a very respectable 55%, filled the final spot on the podium. Well Done podium dwellers.
Sylvia Foster officiated over this event and reports our novices are making good progress.

At the close of play participants enjoyed a quiet drink at the Everglades Country Club. We trust all our novices enjoyed their 2 weeks of competition.

Wednersday Morning Sessions Cancelled

The committee advises that from 7 September until further notice Wednesday Morning Bridge Sessions are cancelled.
