Australia Day Pairs

With Covid swamping the ‘Coast’ we were never going to match the record numbers achieved in the 2020 version of this event. On that magical Day Tom Tomlinson was sent home to collect more tables to cater for 80 players! Ah… memories. Now back to the present.

Thirteen pairs contested this year’s event all keen to open their red point accounts for 2022. There were lots of challenging boards causing bidding strategies to go astray from time to time. However, Christine Hadaway and Jackie Wilson handled the play best scoring a comfortable 2% win.  Well done ladies. Wednesday morning regulars, Carol Anderson & Edith Marshall, finished an impressive 2nd edging out Martin Johnson and Chris Hasemore by a small margin.

Unfortunately, we could not run a novice section due to lack of numbers but hopefully our next event (Summer Pairs next Saturday) will see some renewed interest.
