Lorraine Lindsay

LorraineLorraine Lindsay - elected Life Member 2000

Lorraine started playing bridge when she joined BWBC in February 1981. There were no set lessons in those days, you grabbed a book and learned as you went along.

Lorraine has held several executive positions:

President 1986,87,88; 1991,92, 2004

Vice-President: 2017-18

Chief Director: 1993,94,95; 2000, 01, 02, 03; 2018

Also, she’s held positions on the committee at CCLCBC.

Lorraine has directed play on a regular basis over 20 years.

Lorraine has been a teacher at BWBC for well over 30 years, and as member/President of the Australian Bridge Teachers Association has taken lessons to Dubbo, Inverell and other points far and wide, sometimes running “learn to play” sessions in the day and advanced topics at night.

People who influenced Lorraine : “Jean Pelham, a wonderful woman and driving force for bridge on the Central Coast and Joan Taylor who was a good teacher”.

Lorraine has been to to Gold Coast, Canberra, Moree, and other regional venue Congresses, and finds that playing away adds another dimension to the game and the pleasure of playing.

Best memories of the Bridge scene:

Initiating the first BWBC Congress in 1987 and seeing it grow and have a good reputation in the bridge world, for the organisation of the play and our hospitality.

Playing in the Australian Women’s Teams finals twice in Canberra, playing with screens between players and the bushfires raging outside, and representing NSW in the pairs at the ANC in Melbourne.

Masterpoints: Lorraine is a Silver Grandmaster.
