2023 Halloween Pairs.

Martin Johnson, Hope Tomlinson, Dasha Brandt and David Bowerman.

Ten tables of intrepid players faced the ultimate challenge.

For the experts it was just another day, for the not so clever, it was a day of deception and intrigue.

Almost every hand had a real problem to solve. If it wasn't all the trumps being in the one opposition hand, it was one opposition hand having all the points while their partner had none. Truly a day to test the metal of all and sundry.

Labour Day Pairs

Chris Hasemore, Martin Johnson, Sylvia & Barry Foster

Perhaps it was the call of the swimming pool or child-minding duties that reduced our Holiday Monday field.

What we lacked in quantity, we made up with quality. There were many Grand Masters aspiring for the honours, while some mere mortals sharpened their skills.

This was a return to form for Martin and Chris who have been bridesmaids a couple of times recently. Special congratulations to Sylvia and Barry, who normally play with different partners. Proving Bridge is a family game.
A big thanks to Director Chris Hannan who kept us in order and was required to resolve some tricky problems.

Congratulations to all the winners and those who tried so hard.

The Club will be conducting the usual Melbourne Cup Competition. Bridge will start at 11:00 and finish in time to watch the big race. I have been assured by Director Peter that there will be plenty of time for lunch, so bring some victuals and perhaps a drinkie.
Laurie will be conducting his $1:00, $2:00 and $5:00 sweeps, so bring some clinkling along if you want to win BIG.
