New Years Cup - 2024

Seventeen pairs entered the New Year’s Cup our first Red Point event for the year. There was plenty of good competition on the day resulting in a NS draw (Di Coats & Jan Clarke / Judy Wulff & David Adams), and EW Chris Williams & Sally Clarke. It was noticeable that some players celebrated New Year far longer than others!

Martin Johnson, Hope Tomlinson, Chris Hasemore and Barry Foster

What an event ... The boards were at their usual trickiest, only more so, I don't think you would ever have had so many voids, and singletons in years. Boy, wasn't it fun.

At one table Martin, bid and made 5 Spades, while at the other his team, playing the reverse cards made 5 Diamonds doubled ... +15 imps ... Work that one out.
